Interests and Personality

BiographyGraduated from Indiana University in May '07 with a major in Fine Arts (Studio Art) and minors in Business and Art History. I started drawing at 10 years old and painting at 18, starting with mostly landscapes but grew interested in working abstractly in late college. My abstract work represents a mixing of the senses, in my case, asthetic imagery attained through listening to music. I believe everyone "sees" music in their own minds but unlike any other.

Thanks for appreciating my art Jstak. I know, I have not been painting for very long. It surprises me often. I'll have an idea and think, and think, and think about it. Then I'll decide I just don't know how to do it. But, I start anyway by putting some paint on the canvas, and slowly it takes over, and the painting ends up painting itself. And I think...I did that? I don't even know how.

Hi John, great abstract works. I like "Tagged Abstract", but my favorites are your Musical Abstracts #2 and #4.

jstak,I really like your Landscape skys dream or otherwise.Lenke

Hello, John, I hope this finds you well and doing fine. I would appreciate your viewing my new gallery on my profile 'All Hands' it contains 26 designs and I would love to hear your comments. Thank you and best wishes, Robbie.

Hello John, you are a talented artist, your landscapes are great, best wishes - ranjan

I love your crossing fingers!

I like the way you really pay attention to the sky. I love all the clouds streaking across the sky in your dramatic sunsets. They are all very nice I can't believe those are from High School. You are very talented. Take pictures of your mural when you are done. Keep painting!!

Thanks for stopping by and regards to healingarts...I work from both real life and photo reference materials. I choose to interpret the photo and paint what I feel about it as opposed to copying it as is.

Glasper lives in Indy. You should visit is site, he does landscapes with beautiful sunsets. He is very inspiring. I noticed you were graduating in May, congrats! Do you have any job prospects? Good jobs are hard to come by in this area of the country.

Greetings - good question - my thought is wholeness behind all of my works!

I'm from Indiana too. I really like your abstracts. Lots of energy and bold strokes. I paint to music sometimes while I do my abstracts, really gives the painting some spice to your strokes. Your landscapes are very good too. Today would hve been a perfect day to paint outside, lots of sun. Have a good weekend.

Greetings - nice work indeed...

"Storm at sea" is pretty unique; however, I also like the "untitled" one. Thanks for sharing, Marina :)

Thanks for visiting and for the kind words. I denerate some textures and photgraphic elements with my Nikon D70. As to software, I use Cinema 4D, POV, Poser, Bryce, Amorphia and several other small softwares as plug-ins with Photoshop. After 14 years I have an extensive library of models and textures built up, so that I rarely have to sspend a lot of time on new complex models. My work is really pretty organic in origin in that I rarely do any pre-sketches. Forty-five years ago I used oils and acrylics on masonite and canvas, but the digital has freed me up considerably. Best regards, Robbie.
