Interests and Personality

BiographyMary Murphy, Ex Civil servant, blissfully and busily retired. I have many creative interests, the current one is painting, but I also write songs/stories/poems, and compose for guitar. I am self taught mostly. You can find my artwork on Ebay by searching for Memartz.
InterestsClassical guitar, gardening, reading, making art, walking, butterflies, family.
MusicMostly classical, but take nostalgic pleasure in 50's to 70's pop and rock n' roll!
FilmsI don't often see a film.
TelevisionI don't watch much TV, I like wildlife documentaries.
BooksBen Elton, Terry Pratchett, Dorothy Dunnett, Mary Gentle, Stephen King, Dickens, among many others.
HeroesI am surprised to find that I don't have any!

I have my first exhibition from March 29th 2011 to 11th April 2011. The venue is the Art Lodge Cafe in Victoria Park, Portsmouth, UK. If you are in the area, do pop in and leave me a comment. The cafe serves delicious coffee, too.

Hi Memartz, lovely work. My favorites are "A serious conversation" and "Fairy".

Because I'm a professional - you have all the more right to criticise my work. I get paid to do this stuff you know?! I really like a fuller-figured fairy - and that isn't me coming out of the closet!

Thank your for your kind words, your comments mean a lot to me, ranjan

Hello Mary, Thank you for commenting my work. Yes the earlier ones were figurative. In my later abstracts I found the "freedom of painting" It's my true believe that an artist has to develope him or herselve every now and than. Thank you for commenting me! Best regards from Holland, Hans

Hello Mary, Wonderful works, I really enjoy your site, First School is beautiful, best wishes - ranjan

Hello, Mary, I hope this finds you well and doing fine. I would appreciate your viewing my new gallery on my profile 'All Hands' it contains 26 designs and I would love to hear your comments. Thank you and best wishes, Robbie.
