Susie, one of the friends listed at your site, is ill. A get well letter would do her heart good and cheer her up a bit. We live in a world that does not apriciate art. We must care for eachother. So leave a post on her board if you have time. Put a smile on her face when she gets home from the hospital. L John TOX

Well, someone I knew purchased that painting. My other works have sold through a gallery and on Ebay. But I think the consensus is that art generally does not sell over the internet. The internet is great for exposure or to direct potential buyers to your work, but not for sales. I think the best way to sell your work is in galleries or art shows/fairs.

Thank you Sanju, I think "The Key" is a favorite of mine as well. My son was the model. In person the piece is so much nicer too, because I added wood shavings into the paint. It has a nice 3D texture. I sold that painting, but it was hard to let go of. But it has a good home now. ~Mare

Hi Sanju, to get back to you about the Matrix. It came to mind with the questions "Is knowledge true? Can we call ignorance truth?" posed in your "Faustus". I would say the answer is yes to both questions. When I think of the Matrix I think of Morphius offering Neo the red or blue pill. The red pill represents knowledge and answers. The blue pill in a sense is ignorance. Both are valid choices, but once you take the red pill, there is no turning back. ~Mare

Some times I let my subconscious play in the paint (color choices, rhythm of the piece, and balance or composition. I don't bring my intellect into it till later. That's how I approach a lot of my abstracts. My subconscious will want to communicate something and so I just let it happen until it reveals itself to me. Maybe all it does is pose a question and maybe I'll title just the way it is. I don't know it this answers your question but it is the best way I can describe the process, Mike

Wow, "Faustus" is a wonderful piece. Well done! I can't believe you are 23 and you painted this! You have really succeeded in capturing the essence of the story. I love the colors and textures. Hmmm, and truth...in intellect, in ignorance? Much to think about here. Have you seen the movie "The Matrix"?

When I was in college I loved Picasso but I study all kinds of art and have many influences. I'm sure though that his influence is a dominate one at times.

"The Enlightenment of Eve", yes enlightenment. In this painting the enlightenment comes as Eve takes the apple, which represents the hidden mysteries in the world. I attempt to show this by painting the apple in the form of "The Golden Mean" or "The Divine Proportion". All things in life grow in this ratio.

My "Honor" represents two soldiers; one who as died, shown by the soldier's helmet balanced on top of his rifle. The other in mourning; with his strength temporary interupted as he experience the true nature of war. This soldier may have been crying for the loss of one, but I see him mourning many lives lost in battle.
